Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Johnna Fredrickson, who serves as interim director of education at Christ Church in Plymouth, had been folding origami figures to use in and around church classrooms to note changes in learning themes, but when the pandemic forced churches to move worship and activities online, making prayer cranes made sense as a parishwide activity.

The Church of Our Saviour in Middleborough is continuing with a special worship service geared towards families and children with special needs, held on the first Sunday of every month. "Our prayer is that Church of Our Saviour can be a [place of] stress-free worship for our families and an affirming, accepting space for the children," the rector, the Rev. David Milam, explained in an e-mail.

This interfaith family began when the two congregations started sharing facilities at Emmanuel in 2004.  Since then, the two congregations have gone beyond sharing facilities to sharing their faith journeys together through collaborative programming, which they facilitate through the Emmanuel Center, the programmatic partnership of Central Reform Temple and Emmanuel Church. Over the weekend of Nov. 15-17, the two congregations held ceremonies of affirmation during the Friday evening Shabbat service and the Sunday morning Eucharist, to raise up and celebrate their covenant agreement.
