Life Together receives funding as a strategic ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts. Life Together's primary initiative is a 10-month, full-time leadership program for emerging leaders (21-32 years old) discerning vocations in ministry, nonprofit management and education.
Life Together's purpose is to cultivate the next generation of prayerful and prophetic leaders, through spiritual practice, social justice, leadership training and community building.
• Micah Fellows are based in the greater Boston area, living in two different houses. This cohort focuses on training leaders who want to pursue careers in ministry or the nonprofit sector. Micah Fellows work at nonprofit organizations and churches, focused on social and structural change.
• Emmaus Fellows are second-year fellows based in the greater Boston area. This is a senior fellowship track focused on capacity building. Emmaus Fellows continue to work in their first-year site placements, building on the relationships they started in their first year, deepening the capacity of both their own leadership and the organization. In addition to site work, Emmaus Fellows serve as part-time staff members for Life Together, working 15 hours per week in a programmatic leadership role.
• Esperanza Academy Teaching Fellowship is a partnership between Life Together and Esperanza Academy--a tuition-free, independent day school for low-income girls in grades 5-8 in Lawrence. This cohort focuses on training teachers and leaders who want to work for change through the education system. In addition to working as full-time teachers, Esperanza Academy Fellows join the Boston fellows for monthly leadership trainings and live together in intentional community in Lawrence.
• South Coast Mission Hub Fellows are based in Fall River. The South Coast Mission Hub was founded in 2012 as a pilot of the Diocese of Massachusetts with the aim of bringing together local churches in the Fall River and New Bedford area to engage in common mission work. One of the South Coast Mission Hub's first initiatives is a cohort of Life Together fellows who are living together in Fall River and working at nonprofit organizations and churches. South Coast fellows join the Boston fellows for monthly leadership trainings.
To get involved:
Life Together will be accepting applications for its fellowship program beginning Dec. 1, for the program year beginning the following August. Open positions will include placements at mission-based nonprofit organizations, schools and churches throughout the greater Boston area, Lawrence and Fall River.
Life Together's name is intentional--the program calls itself the Life Together Community because of the belief that what it is doing begins with an internship program but is also about creating a community beyond the fellows who graduate each June.
