Boston Globe: First woman consecrated to head Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts

Two dozen members of the Episcopal clergy surrounded Julia E. Whitworth and placed their hands on her head as she knelt in prayer.

The crowd Saturday morning in Trinity Church in the Back Bay stood and cheered as they greeted their new bishop, the first woman to lead the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts.
