Bishop Election Ballot Results

The Diocese of Massachusetts will elect a new bishop diocesan on Saturday, May 18, 2024.  Ballot results from the electing convention will be posted on this page as they are announced, with the most recent results at the top.

The electing convention begins at 9 a.m. with the celebration of Holy Eucharist.  Following the service, at approximately 9:45 a.m., the call to order will take place and then the balloting will begin.

3:33 p.m.:  Bishop Gates has announced that the Rev. Julia E. Whitworth has been elected on the 4th ballot.

2:55 p.m.:  Ballot #4 voting has begun.

Bishop Gates has announced that the Rev. Edwin D. Johnson has withdrawn.

One blank ballot was cast in the lay order on ballot #3 and contributes to the total cast and total needed to elect.

1:49 p.m.:  Ballot #3 voting has begun.

Bishop Gates has announced that the Rev. Dr. Brendan J. Barnicle and the Rev. Canon Jean Baptiste Ntagengwa, Th.D., have withdrawn.

1:42 p.m.:  Recalled to order

On lunch break until 1:40 p.m.

12:13 p.m.:  Ballot #2 voting has begun.

One blank ballot was cast in the lay order on ballot #1 and contributes to the total cast and total needed to elect.

11:14 a.m.:  Ballot #1 voting has begun.

10:30 a.m.: The convention has been called to order.
