Paul R. Gentile, the coordinator of the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church record-archiving team, is working to protect and safeguard the records of the church by creating a digital archive.
In 2019 the team of three started digitizing historical and ecumenical records such as baptisms, deaths, confirmations and marriages dating back to the founding of the church in 1888.
“These are historic as well as legal documents,” Mr. Gentile said.
“It’s really broken down into two projects. It’s a digitizing effort and it’s also taking the digitized materials and putting them into a document management system, so it can be retrieved and stored in the cloud,” he said.
