In our own backyard, across the country and around the world, faith communities are working together to help curb climate change.
On Cape Cod, the Faith Communities Environmental Network is actively working together to take action. They now number over 25 faith communities strong. Currently co-led by Susan Starkey and Brian McGurk, this ecumenical community is “learning to connect faith with deeds protecting the Earth and to “educate, advocate, and shared best practices.”
In Sandwich, St. John’s Episcopal Church is a member of FCEN. As part of its commitment to FCEN and to the Episcopal Church’s Care for Creation Pledge, this church is proposing an interesting approach to Lent this year. Throughout Lent, St. John’s will be urging parishioners to consider how and what they consume with regards to energy consumption, and think about where they might consume less.
