A simple service of prayer and remembrance for the Rt. Rev. M. Thomas Shaw, SSJE on the one-year anniversary of his death will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. at Christ Church (12 Quincy Avenue) in Quincy. All are invited and welcome. (Please note the time and location changes from those previously announced, necessitated by scheduling conflicts.)
Questions about the service may be directed to the cathedral office at 617-482-4826, ext. 221.
The Very Rev. Jep Streit, Dean of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, offers the following prayer, used by the group of pilgrims making a walking pilgrimage from the cathedral at this time last year. It is modified from A New Zealand Prayer Book:
Gracious God, nothing in death or life, in the world as it is or the world as it shall be, nothing in all creation can separate us from your love. We commend Tom into your loving care, entrusting that you enfold him with your grace in his rising again in you. Bless those whose hearts are filled with sadness, that they too may know the hope of resurrection; for the sake of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
