Members of the diocese's Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) and their adult mentors, including Bishop M. Thomas Shaw, SSJE, will spend July 21-28 in El Salvador, learning more about the country and its history and building relationships with Salvadoran youth.
They will be sharing reflections about their experiences via their blog, here.
The YLA is a year-long program for 9th and 10th grade youth through which they learn about and practice leadership in a Christian context. They experience team building and learn about servant leadership during a week at the Barbara C. Harris Camp and Conference Center, meet throughout the year and create and lead self-chosen projects in their home parishes. The year culminates with a mission trip.
