A tithe of $2 million from the ongoing diocesan Together Now fundraising campaign is designated for mission beyond the Diocese of Massachusetts; $500,000 of that tithe amount will fund existing mission partnerships.
Late last year, Diocesan Council approved grants of $250,000 to the Bishop Masereka Christian Foundation for a new medical clinic in Uganda and $150,000 for vocational training and health care ministry in the Diocese of Jerusalem.
Four more grants of $25,000 each are still to be designated by Diocesan Council (one per year through 2015) for existing mission partnerships, and congregations of the diocese are invited to apply. Criteria and applications are available here.
The remaining $1.5 million of the mission tithe total will become available in 2013 as matching funds that congregations of the diocese will be able to apply for and use toward mission trip expenses or joint ventures.
