Downtown church personnel reached so far report chaos in the Back Bay area and limited mobility.
Trinity Church in Copley Square was closed today for the Marathon; Marathon runners on Trinity Church's charity team are reported safe.
Emmanuel Church at 15 Newbury Street reports no damage.
The Cathedral Church of St. Paul at 138 Tremont Street has canceled its regular Monday evening community meal because volunteer servers cannot make it into the city; the cathedral buildings are closed for the evening.
Old North Church at 193 Salem Street closed early, following the advice of the National Park Service.
04/15/2013 4:30 p.m.: Bishop Tom Shaw has requested prayers for the City of Boston and all affected by and responding to this afternoon's explosions at the Boston Marathon finish line.
