About 50 people gathered on Main Street in Sandwich on July 13 to hold a candlelight vigil after the shootings in Baton Rouge, Dallas and St. Paul the previous week. The Rev. Thomas Ferguson of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Sandwich spoke before the crowd and noted that in his short time as a pastor at the church he has already attended two vigils. “We can ask what are we to do and how are we to respond in the face of what seems to be a never-ending litany of tragedy,” he said.
