Greetings, Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts!
This is coming to you just before this grand weekend of celebrating my consecration as your bishop, and I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for entrusting me with this incredible responsibility, this awesome privilege.
This weekend there will be many gatherings, many celebrations, many prayers, extraordinary music, sacraments, and while some of them are oriented towards the change in my ministry, I would submit that they really are about giving us what we need, the power of the Holy Spirit, to be encouraged, empowered and energized for the next chapter of your life as a diocese in which I am blessed to lead and be with you in service to Jesus Christ and all whom God loves.
So whether you are attending the consecration in person, at a watch party or at home online, know that I carry you with me, so that we'll be lifted up by the Holy Spirit to be the hands and feet of Christ for all whom we meet in the years ahead. God bless you. I can't wait to be with you. I can't wait for all of the things God calls us to do. So let us begin!
