St. Michael's Church in Marblehead invites all to join for its current organ recital series, marking the 50th anniversary of the installation of the church's Fisk organ.
For this special occasion, St. Michael's is welcoming a select group of talented artists to celebrate the many ways in which the organ contributes to the life of the church's community.
Upcoming is “The Violinist’s Friend” on Jan. 19 at 5 p.m. (snow date Jan. 26). Although many organists may seem quite solitary, spending hours practicing alone in dimly lit churches, the ability to collaborate with other musicians is an important part of their skill set. Violinist Lisa Brooke, accompanied by organist Raymond Hawkins, will highlight the instrument’s collaborative capabilities with a program of works by Biber, Rheinberger and others.
