Indigenous Peoples' Justice Network Book Discussion: Ladder to the Light

The Dioceses of Massachusetts and Western Massachusetts Indigenous Peoples' Justice Network invites all who are interested to join an online book discussion on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m., focused on Ladder to the Light: An Indigenous Elder’s Meditation on Hope and Courage by the Rt. Rev. Steven Charleston.  As both Choctaw elder and bishop, Charleston serves as an advocate and indigenous prophetic voice in The Episcopal Church and beyond.

In Ladder to the Light, Charleston unites the vast wisdom and gifts of the Indigenous community with the life of faith and healing in fresh and powerful ways.  He brings a voice that resonates with hope, comfort and resilience, shining light into these times of darkness and uncertainty.  Charleston shares a metaphor: climbing a ladder up out of darkness into the light.  Each chapter represents a rung of this spiritual ladder, discerning new life into which the Spirit calls us and connecting with ancient Indigenous sources of resilience, community, healing and sacred relationship with the creation around us.  This highly accessible book is packed with wisdom that many will find transformational for their life of faith.
