Winter Camp this year at the diocese's Barbara C. Harris Camp and Conference Center in Greenfield, N.H., was cut short a day because of one of February's many snowstorms, which simply meant, according to campers, "days packed with more excitement, more activities and more meaningful worships."
"Winter camp was snow much fun!" the campers reported in a newsletter they created about their Feb. 16-21 experience. This is the second year that the Barbara C. Harris Camp and Conference Center has offered a winter camp program for middle and high school students during their February school vacation week.
Camp was split into two programs, Challenge for middle schoolers and EDGE for high schoolers, with knitting, yoga, pizza making, sledding and snowshoeing for the Challenge campers and snowshoeing, skiing, belaying and outdoor snow-village camping for the EDGE group. The two communities came together for meals, evening programs and worship.
"Our worship theme for the week was 'Call and Response: God calls us in countless ways…how do we respond?' We spent a lot of time in small groups talking about the ways in which we experience being 'called' to be our true self. We learned how God wants us to be the best version of ourselves. We also talked a lot about forgiveness and reconciliation, and how to let go of negative feelings and grudges that we hold on to," the camp newsletter said.
“Winter Camp was a week full of friendship, worship, laughs and fun. All in all, this was a week to remember."
