The bishops of the diocese and the deans of Boston's Episcopal churches released the following statement today regarding the death of Boston's longtime mayor, Thomas M. Menino:
On behalf of the Episcopal churches in the City of Boston and the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, we express our sorrow at the death of Mayor Thomas M. Menino. We offer our prayers that God receive him into God’s loving embrace, and we pray for Angela and his children and grandchildren in their loss.
We are profoundly grateful for his leadership, as city councilor and mayor for more than two decades. He loved the people of our city and worked tirelessly to bring us together and make this a better place. We give thanks for the many partnerships and collaborations with our congregations to serve those in need in Boston.
May his soul and the souls of all the departed rest in peace.
