Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are saddened to inform you of the death of The Rev. Brian J. P. Murdoch on Oct. 16, 2016, in Vineyard Haven.
Brian was serving as priest-in-charge at Grace Church, Vineyard Haven. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1987 and his ministry included service in numerous parishes around our diocese, including Emmanuel Church in West Roxbury, St. Paul’s Church in Hopkinton, St. Mary’s Church in Dorchester, the former Church of St. John the Evangelist in Boston, and St. John’s Church in Charlestown. Brian was also the chaplain and director of recovery at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department for many years, a visiting chaplain at Bunker Hill Community College and an associate of the Society of St. John the Evangelist in Cambridge.
Visitation hours are today, Oct. 18, 5:00-7:00 p.m., at the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 56 Edgartown Vineyard Haven Road, in Vineyard Haven, with a Memorial Service to be held tomorrow,Wednesday, October 19, 4:00 p.m., at Grace Church, Woodlawn Avenue at William Street, in Vineyard Haven.
A Vigil will be held on Friday, October 21, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 138 Tremont Street, in Boston, with the funeral to take place on Saturday, October 22 at 4:00 p.m., also at the Cathedral Church of St Paul.
May the soul of God’s faithful servant departed rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon him.
