New intake officers named for clergy disciplinary process

Two new intake officers have been named to serve in support of the clergy disciplinary process for the Diocese of Massachusetts.  They are Starr Anderson, who also serves as a congregational consultant in the diocese and is a member of St. James’s Church in Groveland, and the Rev. Rainey Dankel, Associate Rector for Community Outreach and Ministry Development at Trinity Church in Boston.

The Episcopal Church’s clergy disciplinary canons (Title IV) stipulate that each diocese provide for Intake Officers Courtesy Photos The Rev. Rainey Dankel and Starr Anderson and publicize methods and means of reporting information concerning offenses.

Under Title IV all matters are reported to an intake officer, initiating a process toward resolution through pastoral care; mediation; an agreement with the bishop; an investigation that may lead to a hearing; or any combination of these.  Anyone may contact one of the diocesan intake officers to report concerns about the behavior of a member of the clergy (bishops, priests, deacons).

More information about the process is available here.

The intake officers can be reached as follows:  Starr Anderson at 978-352-2147 or starrkanderson@gmail.com or the Rev. Rainey Dankel at 617-536-0944, ext. 309 or rdankel@trinitychurchboston.org.
