The Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts is welcoming Cindy Cushman to the staff as the new human resources and benefits manager. Cushman will be managing daily operations in HR for both the diocesan and Cathedral Church of St. Paul staffs, including staffing, salary and benefits administration, and employee relations and development. She will be supporting the Compensation and Benefits Committee and administering the annual insurance open enrollment process.
Most recently, Cushman served as a human resources manager at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University. She spent seven years at the arboretum and a total of nine years at Harvard. At the arboretum, Cushman managed staffing, new staff entry, and salary and benefits administration. She also organized staff events, worked with managers in coordinating volunteers and helped to guide staff through a leadership transition.
“It’s very exciting to be here during this time of transition in Bishop Gates’s first year,” Cushman said. “I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone here, and I’m excited for this new challenge.”
"Cindy brings a depth and breadth of experience that will help not only those on the diocesan staff but also those in parishes who have questions about benefits and other human resource matters," said the Rev. Canon Mally Lloyd, Canon to the Ordinary. "We are glad to have her on the staff."
Cushman holds a master’s degree in organizational development from Bridgewater State University, and she is currently enrolled in an online Ph.D. program in conflict resolution through Nova Southeastern University.
She can be reached in the diocesan Treasurer's Office at 617-482-4826, ext. 578 or ccushman@diomass.org.
