The annual convention of the Diocese of Massachusetts will take place Friday-Saturday, Nov. 2-3 at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul (138 Tremont Street) in Boston.
Preliminary materials, including positions to be filled by election, the nomination form and guidelines for submitting resolutions, were sent June 28 to delegates and clergy and also are posted on the Diocesan Convention 2012 page, here.
"Share them and use them, please, so that the diversity of our diocese is well represented in our decision-making bodies and so that the mind of the diocese can be known and inform our mission strategy and advocacy," Bishop M. Thomas Shaw, SSJE and Bishop Gayle E. Harris wrote to delegates and clergy in a letter accompanying the mailing.
All resolutions, nominations for diocesan elections, proposed constitutional and canonical amendments and committee reports are due by Friday, Sept. 7.
Open forums will be held in October, and are an occasion for learning and discussion about the issues and business to come before the convention, including resolutions and the budget proposed for 2013. Forums will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on:
• Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul (138 Tremont Street) in Boston;
• Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Christ Church (1132 Highland Avenue) in Needham;
• Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Trinity Church (124 River Road) in Topsfield; and
• Thursday, Oct. 25 at St. Peter’s Church (165 Main Street) in Buzzards Bay.
