The “Harvest of Dreams” Annual Dinner and Auction, to support Esperanza Academy in Lawrence, is set for Friday, Nov. 5, 6:30 p.m., at the Andover Country Club (60 Canterbury Street) in Andover.  All are invited.

The Massachusetts Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians (UBE) is sponsoring two upcoming speaker forums:

On Saturday, Nov. 13, 11 a.m.-12 p.m., the Rev. Karen Coleman will present "An Overview of the Ordained Early Episcopal Black Women."  This event will be held at St. John St. James Church (149 Roxbury Street) in Roxbury.

The Diocesan Altar Guild will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Emmanuel Church (5 Bryant Street) in Wakefield.  The guest speaker will be the Rev. Kathleen McAdams of Ecclesia Ministries and Common Cathedral.

Taught by Gregor Trinkhaus-Randall, Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, and sponsored by the Parish Historians Society, the workshop will provide basic information about what to do when a disaster, such as water or fire damage, hits and how to implement a disaster preparedness plan.

Bethany House of Prayer, a ministry with the sisters of the Order of St. Anne–Bethany in Arlington, offers a Refreshment Days on the first Tuesday of the month.  The Oct. 5 Refreshment Day will include a morning meditation by the Rev. Addison Hall and the Very Rev. Jep Streit.  Registration is required; fee of $40 includes midday dinner.

Bethany House of Prayer, a ministry with the sisters of the Order of St. Anne–Bethany in Arlington, offers a Contemplative Service of Holy Eucharist every third Wednesday of the month in the St. Anne's Chapel, with silence and prayer, word and music.  The October service takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m.  

The "Sustainable Houses of Worship" (SHOW) workshop, part of the diocese's Green Grants Initiative, on Saturday, Oct. 30 at St. Mary's Church (14 Cushing Avenue) in Dorchester has been postponed, as have the Oct. 2 and 16 workshops.  New SHOW workshop dates for upcoming months will be posted soon.
