RIP: The Rev. Brian Scott Kelley

The Office of the Bishop has issued the following notice:

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We are saddened to inform you of the death of the Rev. Canon Brian Scott Kelley in Concord, Mass., on April 6, 2021.

Brian served as rector of St. John’s Church in Charlestown from 1960 until 1966; assistant at Grace Church in Everett from 1963 until 1966; associate at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul from 1966 until 1995, and rector of the Church of St. Luke and St. Margaret in Allston from 1979 until 1983. He was appointed canon for social action at the cathedral in 1991, serving until 1995. Brian founded Social Action Ministries, an interfaith organization housed at the diocesan offices which served the most vulnerable in our community, and which later became part of the Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance. He also served on the Board of Directors of Sherrill House from 1986 until 1996.

A funeral will take place at a time yet to be determined.

May the soul of God’s faithful servant departed rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon him.
