The Episcopal Church’s place in the Anglican Communion will be one important area of focus at this summer’s General Convention, June 13-21 in Columbus, Ohio. In preparation, Massachusetts’ deputies are hosting open gatherings this month for information sharing and discussion about the Episcopal Church’s response to the Windsor Report and potential actions of the General Convention. The second of the two meetings takes place from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23 at Trinity Church (124 River Road) in Topsfield. All are welcome. Audio portions of the first meeting held on May 2 in Plymouth are available on our General Convention Web page -- click the "Come and Grow" image above.

A churchwide octave of prayer for the 75th General Convention opens on Pentecost, June 4 and concludes on Trinity Sunday, June 11. Individuals and congregations are asked to support the work of the convention by participating in the octave. For prayer octave resources and other General Convention updates as they become available, click the "Come and Grow" image above.
Our diocese aired locally a 30-second TV ad April 10- 16 targeted to Gen Xers. Produced for national broadcast by the Episcopal Church, the ad, titled “Complicated Times,” features York Harbor, Maine, priest Paige Blair, formerly of this diocese, inviting viewers to join in a spiritual journey toward understanding, reconciliation and forgiveness. The ad ran locally on Channel 4 (CBS4) and on Lifetime, the Family Channel, TNT and Nick at Night on cable. If you missed it on TV, you can view it online at: www.comeandgrow.org/tvspots.htm

The Episcopal Church began broadcasting the ad nationally through Time Warner Cable on April 30.
It’s time for all kids (and kids at heart) to sign up for summer camp at the diocese’s Barbara C. Harris Camp and Conference Center in Greenfield, N.H., where it’s all about fun, faith and friends. Six one- week sessions run through July and August for youth in grades 3 through 10. Or, the whole family can join Bishop Bud Cederholm for Family Camp, Aug. 13-18. There are also adventure travel camps for high schoolers, and specialized programs focusing on soccer, art, music and choir.

Ask at your church for the 2006 summer camp registration booklet, or contact the camp directly at camp@bchcenter. org or 603/547-3400.
The diocesan Hurricane Katrina Relief effort continues. In March Bishop Bud Cederholm traveled with a group of volunteers to Biloxi, Miss., where they extended helping hands and encouragement. In April diocesan youth missioner Robert Bacon led a youth team to Biloxi comprising 40 people from 18 parishes. They did substantial clean-up and repair work on six homes and enjoyed fellowship with the youth group of the Church of the Redeemer in Mobile, Ala., who traveled over to serve the volunteers dinner. The diocesan Katrina Relief Task Force has compiled a list of ways to contribute. How might you and your congregation be called to join in this mission?
