Poor People's Campaign Network Inaugural Meeting

A network is forming in the Episcopal dioceses of Massachusetts and Western Massachusetts around the Poor People's Campaign, and will hold an inaugural meeting on Zoom on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 7-8 p.m.  E-mail Martha Gardner at mgardner@diomass.org for Zoom link to join.

The goal is to build a network that connects Episcopalians in Massachusetts who support the Poor People's Campaign and/or are interested in learning more about the campaign nationally and its work in Massachusetts.  At this initial meeting, the group will discuss how best to connect with one another and to plan how to become better educated on the interlocking injustices of systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, war economy/militarism and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism.

The group will be organizing a book study of the recently published We Cry Justice: Reading the Bible with the Poor People's Campaign (which will be the subject of a webinar with the authors of the book on Nov. 2 at 6 p.m., hosted by the Rev. Melanie Mullen, the director of reconciliation, justice and creation care on the presiding bishop's staff).

Questions may be directed to Amelia Slawsby at amelia.slawsby.mappc@gmail.com or Martha Gardner, Missioner for Networking and Formation, Diocese of Massachusetts, at mgardner@diomass.org.
