[Discernment Committee News Release]: The Discernment Committee announced on Aug. 29 that the period for nominations for bishop coadjutor closed, as scheduled, on Aug. 26. Applications are being received through 5 p.m. on Sept. 23. Nominations are not necessary for applications.
According to David Urion, committee chair, “We are excited about the nominations and applications being received. We pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance as we move forward to the next phase of our discernment process—the screening and interviewing of applicants and those nominated—and ask everyone to keep our work in your prayers.”
Urion also noted that “screening and interviewing is a very sensitive process for both the committee and those under consideration, and the Discernment Committee will not be sharing any information about who has been nominated or has applied, or the number being considered.” This is a time when the work of the committee is highly confidential, and only the names of the final candidates for consideration will be made known in January.

El Comité de Discernimiento anunció que el período para nominaciones de candidatos para obispo coadjutor cerró, tal y como se había programado, el 26 de Agosto. Se estarán recibiendo aplicaciones hasta las 5 p.m. del 23 de Septiembre. No es requerido enviar nominaciones para las aplicaciones.
De acuerdo con David Urion, co-director del comité, “Estamos muy entusiasmados con las nominaciones y aplicaciones que hemos estado recibiendo. Le pedimos al Espíritu Santo que nos ilumine en nuestro paso a la siguiente fase de nuestro proceso de discernimiento – la selección y entrevista de interesados y nominados- y les pedimos a todos que mantengan nuestra labor en sus oraciones.”
Urion también dijo que, “la selección y entrevista es un proceso muy sensitivo tanto para el comité y aquellos bajo consideración, y por tanto el Comité de Discernimiento no estará dando información sobre quién ha sido nominado o ha aplicado, o sobre el número bajo consideración.” Este es un tiempo en que el trabajo del comité es altamente confidencial, y solamente los nombres de los candidatos finales a ser considerados se darán a conocer en Enero.
